Sharing Moments

Common sharing problems and fixes

Updated

When share doesn't work or the link breaks.

Quick fixes by issue

Share button is missing

  1. Make sure the moment is Public — Close Friends and Private moments hide the share button. Look for badges on the moment.
  2. Check if you've been blocked — if you can't open the user's profile or see their other moments, you've been blocked, and sharing is unavailable.
  3. Pull-to-refresh the feed and try again.

Share sheet is empty (no avatars in Row 1)

  1. You haven't chatted with anyone yet, so there's no recent friends list.
  2. Tap Chat in Row 2 to access the full chat list.
  3. Or invite friends from Profile → Find Friends to grow your network.

WhatsApp / Telegram missing from the system share sheet

  1. Make sure the app is installed and signed in.
  2. Restart your phone — sometimes the system share sheet needs a refresh.
  3. Check phone settings: Settings → Apps → Currently → Permissions — make sure share is allowed.

Story share opens but Instagram doesn't show the moment

  1. Wait a few seconds — slow connections need time to download the moment to Instagram.
  2. Make sure you have the latest version of Instagram.
  3. Try sharing again — sometimes it works the second time.

Copied link doesn't work / shows 'This moment is no longer available'

  1. The poster may have deleted the moment after you copied the link.
  2. The poster may have changed the visibility to Private (and you're not a follower).
  3. The poster may have blocked you (see if you can find them in search).

'Sent to {Name}' but they didn't get it

  1. Their notifications may be off — ask them to check their Settings → Notifications.
  2. Make sure you sent to the right person (avatars can look similar).
  3. Open your chat with them and confirm the share is in the thread.

Save button doesn't work / 'Saved' but moment isn't in Saved tab

  1. Pull-to-refresh your Profile → Saved view.
  2. Restart Currently — the Saved tab may not have synced yet.
  3. Make sure you tapped Save all the way through (some menus have a confirmation).

Download fails / 'Failed to save to gallery'

  1. Check phone storage — gallery downloads need free space.
  2. Check Settings → Currently → Photos permission.
  3. On older Android, ensure storage permission is enabled.
