Discover Activity, the activity picker integration, and using activities as filters.
Two ways to search by activity
Currently lets you search by activity in two main ways:
| Method | When to use |
|---|---|
Tap an activity pill in the Moments tab (e.g., Eating, Working) | Quick filter — just narrow the feed by one big activity |
| Open the activity picker (top-right of Moments tab) | Deep filter — pick a specific sub-activity like Attending - Wedding |
Discover Activity
In the universal search bar, before you type, you'll see a section called Discover Activity with quick activity pills:
Discover Activity.
EatingWorkingTravelingDrinkingPlaying
Tap any pill to instantly filter by that activity — no typing needed. Useful when you're not sure what to search for.
Typing an activity
If you type the name of an activity (e.g., Attending), Currently surfaces matching activities in the Activity section of search results:
Activity search results.
Attending - WeddingAttending - MeetingAttending - a birthday party
Tap any of these to filter the moments feed by that specific activity. The activity picker auto-scrolls to that selection.
The activity picker
Same as the picker you see when posting moments or creating plans:
- Trending Now pills — popular activities right now
- All Activities grid — categories like Attending, Baking, Celebrating, Cleaning, Doing, Drinking, Eating, Enjoying, etc.
- Two-step refinement — pick a broad activity, then a sub-activity
- + Add custom activity — type your own custom filter
- Confirm button at the bottom locks in the filter
Once confirmed, your Moments feed shows the chip at the top: e.g., Wedding ✕ with Clear All to reset.
Activities = filters, not just tags. Posting an activity tags your moment. Searching by activity filters everyone's moments. Same vocabulary, different direction.
FAQs — Searching by activity
Q. Why does the activity picker have so many options?
A. Each broad activity (like Attending) has 10+ sub-activities to make moments specific. This precision helps Currently surface the right moments to the right people. You don't have to use all sub-activities — pick what fits.
Q. Can I search for moments without picking an activity?
A. Yes — the All filter shows all moments. Activity filters are optional. Use them when you want to narrow.
Q. My activity isn't in the list. What do I do?
A. In the activity picker, tap + Add custom activity at the bottom and type your own. It'll be applied as a filter for this search.
Q. Can I save my favorite activity filter?
A. Not directly — but Currently remembers your last-used activity filter. Open Search next time, and the same filter is preserved.
Q. Does filtering by activity affect my home feed?
A. No — Search filters are independent from your home feed. Home feed always shows people you follow; Search filters discovery moments.
