Things you can change
| Field | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Cover photo | The wide background image at the top. Tap to change. Pick from your gallery or take a new one. |
| Profile picture | The circular face shot. Tap to change — same face-detection rules as signup apply (clear face, good lighting). |
| First name + Last name | Edit anytime. |
Username (@handle) | Limited changes (may not be allowed at all). See FAQ below. |
| Bio | Up to 2 lines. Use it to say what you do, where you are, what you're into. |
| City | Change your home city — affects local feeds and Live Map. |
| Connected platforms | Add or remove Whatsapp, Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Discord, etc. |
Connecting external platforms
Below your bio, you'll see icons for platforms you've connected. To add or update:
- Tap the platform icon (e.g., Instagram).
- Either log in via OAuth or paste your handle/link manually.
- Save.
Once connected, the platform shows up next to your name with a small icon and your handle on it.
Why connect platforms? Friends can tap a connected platform to jump straight to your Insta or WhatsApp. It also helps Currently verify you're a real person, not a duplicate or bot account.
Saving your changes
After editing, tap Save at the bottom. Most changes apply instantly. For username changes (if allowed), you may need to re-verify.
FAQs — Editing profile
Q. Can I change my username?
A. Username changes are limited. If allowed, you'll see an editable field on the Edit Profile screen. Otherwise, your username stays as the one you picked during signup. We do this to protect handle squatting and confusion among friends.
Q. How long can my bio be?
A. Two lines visible on the profile, but the field allows up to about 150 characters. Use emoji, brief, and to the point — friends scan profiles fast.
Q. My new profile photo isn't showing up. Why?
A. The face-detection check may have flagged it. Make sure your photo is a clear shot of your face — no sunglasses, group shots, or pets. See the Adding your profile picture article in the Getting Started guide for tips.
Q. How do I disconnect Instagram or another platform?
A. Tap the platform icon on the Edit Profile screen and choose Disconnect. The icon disappears from your profile.
Q. Can I have an animated profile picture?
A. Currently supports static images only at the moment. The Record option in the profile picture flow captures a video selfie — that may unlock animated profile pictures in future updates.
Q. Can I make my profile invisible?
A. You can't make the whole profile invisible, but you can: (1) restrict who can comment on your moments, (2) restrict who can DM you, and (3) lock individual moments to mutual sharers (see the Profile → Privacy & Safety section). For full privacy, set your account to Private.
