Blocking and unblocking

Updated

How to block, what it does, and how to undo.

How to block someone

Three places to block a user:

  1. From their profile: tap the more-options menu in the top-right and tap Block.
  2. From a moment: tap the more-options menu on their moment, tap Report, then Block at the bottom.
  3. From a comment: long-press their comment, tap Report, then Block.

In all three flows, you'll see a confirmation: Block @{username}? — tap Confirm to finalize.

What blocking does

EffectDetail
They can't see your profileYour profile is invisible to them
They can't see your momentsEven public ones become hidden from them
They can't message youDMs are blocked both ways
They can't comment on your postsThey can't react or comment on anything you post
They can't tag or mention youMentions of your handle break for them
They're removed as a followerThey're no longer in your Followers list, you're not in their Following list
They can't find you in searchYour handle is hidden from their search results

Blocking is silent. The person you block does not get a notification or any direct message. They may eventually figure it out by noticing they can't see your stuff, but Currently never tells them outright.

Unblocking someone

  1. Open your profile → Friends tab → Blocked sub-tab.
  2. Find the person's name.
  3. Tap Unblock (red text).
  4. Confirm. They're unblocked instantly.

Unblock ≠ auto-follow. When you unblock someone, you're not automatically reconnected — they're just no longer blocked. They'd have to follow you again, and you'd have to follow them. The relationship resets to zero.

Blocked tab

The Blocked tab in your profile shows everyone you've ever blocked, with Unblock buttons next to each. Use the search bar to find specific names.

FAQs — Blocking

Q. Will the person know I blocked them?

A. No notification or message goes out. They may notice indirectly when your profile or content stops appearing for them.

Q. Can a blocked person still see comments I made on someone else's post?

A. Yes — blocking only hides direct interactions. If you commented on a third party's moment, they can still see that comment when viewing that moment, unless the third party has also blocked them.

Q. How many people can I block?

A. No hard limit. Block as many as you need.

Q. If we used to be friends, will our chat history come back when I unblock?

A. Past chats stay in your message history but are hidden from each other while blocked. After unblocking, neither person automatically regains access — you'd start a new chat thread.

Q. Can I report and block at the same time?

A. Yes — when you report a comment, moment, or profile, the confirmation screen offers Block as the next step. One tap does both.

Q. Can I block someone before they've ever interacted with me?

A. Yes — even a complete stranger can be blocked. Just go to their profile, tap the menu, and block.
