Choosing during plan creation

On the create plan screen, two pill buttons sit side-by-side under Privacy:

  • PublicAnyone can join
  • PrivateApproval required

Tap to select. Whichever you pick is highlighted in green. Public is the default — Currently leans social by default.

If you pick Public

  • Your plan goes live the moment you tap Create plan.
  • It appears on the All filter for anyone in your area.
  • Friends can join with a single tap of I'm in.
  • You can still kick people out from the organizer view if needed.

If you pick Private

  • Your plan only appears to people you've invited directly.
  • Tapping I'm in on a Private plan creates a request that you have to approve.
  • Approvals appear as a sheet: 3 Requested with Accept / Decline for each.
  • People not invited can't even see the plan.

When to pick Private. Use Private when you want control — a small dinner with close friends, a study group, an intimate gathering. The approval flow lets you decide who's in. For most casual hangouts, Public is the right call.

FAQs — Public vs Private

Q. Can I change a plan from Private to Public after creating it?

A. Yes. Open the plan, tap edit, and change the privacy setting. Note that changing from Private to Public makes everyone who's already approved members; new joiners come in instantly.

Q. If I delete a Public plan, do members get a notification?

A. Yes. Everyone who joined gets a push: "{Plan} has been cancelled." Same for Private plans.

Q. How do I share a Private plan?

A. Use the Invite Friends to Join button on the plan. You can share via Insta, Story, or copy a link. Only people you send the link to can request to join.

Q. Can someone share my Private plan with their friends?

A. They can share the link, but anyone who taps it still has to request approval from you. So the link is safe to share — you stay in control.

Q. Why didn't my friend get my Private plan invite?

A. Either: (1) the link wasn't actually sent, (2) they tapped it but didn't request to join, or (3) they don't have Currently installed yet. Resend, or share via WhatsApp / Insta directly.
