Every plan has a built-in chat to coordinate with everyone joining.
How the group chat starts
As soon as you join a plan, you're added to its group chat. The chat is auto-named after the plan — e.g., Watching - Movie — and tagged with Plan next to its name in your Chats tab.
Finding it
- Open the plan and tap Open Chat, OR
- Open the Chats tab from the bottom navigation.
- Plans are filtered under the Primary 2 filter at the top, with a
Plantag next to each plan group chat.
Welcome message
When the chat first opens, Currently posts a friendly bot message:
Welcome to the group! Share what you're planning, suggest a meeting spot, or just say hey. Quick replies:
How are you•Where are you?
Tap a quick reply to send it instantly, or type your own.
How the chat works
- Like any group chat — text, emoji, GIFs, photos, voice notes.
- Members include: organizer + everyone who's joined.
- New joiners are added automatically when they tap I'm in (Public) or get approved (Private).
- Removed members are removed from the chat instantly.
- The chat persists until the organizer deletes the plan, or for ~24 hours after the plan ends.
Group chat is automatic. You don't have to set up a group chat manually — Currently does it for you the moment a plan exists. When a plan is over, the chat is auto-archived (you can still scroll back through it from your Chats list).

FAQs — Plan chat
Q. Can I mute a plan group chat?
A. Yes. Long-press the chat in your Chats tab, tap Mute. You can also mute from inside the chat via the menu icon.
Q. Can I leave the chat without leaving the plan?
A. No — the two are tied together. Leaving the chat also removes you from the plan. To stop notifications without leaving, mute the chat.
Q. What happens to the chat when the plan ends?
A. It stays accessible for about 24 hours after the scheduled end time, then archives. You can still scroll back through old plan chats from your archive.
Q. Can the organizer remove someone from the chat?
A. By removing them from the plan, yes. The chat removal is automatic.
Q. Can I send photos and videos in the chat?
A. Yes — same as any chat. Tap the camera or attachment icon next to the message field.
Q. If I leave a plan, can I rejoin and get back into the chat?
A. Public plans — yes, instantly. Private plans — you'll need to re-request. The old chat history may or may not be visible to you depending on how you re-joined.
