Pick how your name and handle appear on Currently.
Step 1: Your full name
- On the What's your full name? screen, type your First Name in the first field.
- Type your Last Name in the second field.
- Tap Next → when both fields are filled.
Use your real name. Your name helps friends find you. You can use the name your friends actually call you (a nickname is fine), but it should be recognizable — not a username, not random characters.
Step 2: Pick your username
Your username is your unique handle on Currently — like your Instagram or X handle. Friends can find you by typing @yourname.
- On the Pick a username screen, type the username you want.
- It will automatically lowercase as you type. The
@symbol is added for you. - If your username is taken, you'll see Sorry, this username is taken! in red. Try a different one.
- Once your username is available, the Next → button turns green. Tap it to continue.
Username rules
- 3 to 20 characters long.
- Letters (a–z), numbers, underscores
_, and periods.only. - Must start with a letter — not a number, period, or underscore.

@,#,!.
FAQs — Name and username
Q. Can I change my username later?
A. Username changes are limited and may not be available right after signup. Pick something you're happy with for the long term.
Q. Can I change my name later?
A. Yes. Go to Profile → Edit Profile to update your first or last name anytime.
Q. My favourite username is taken. What can I do?
A. Try variations: add numbers (@harsh_07), add a period (@harsh.real), or add a word (@imharsh, @therealharsh). Be creative — once it's yours, no one else can take it.
Q. Why does my username only show in lowercase?
A. Currently usernames are always lowercase, like most modern apps. This keeps them consistent and avoids confusion (@Harsh and @harsh are the same person).
Q. Can I use my real name as a username?
A. Yes — if it's available and follows the rules. For example, @harsh.bhakhar would work.
Q. Can I use emojis or special characters in my username?
A. No. Only letters, numbers, underscores, and periods are allowed. Emojis and symbols like #, !, * won't work.
