When a comment crosses a line — how to report, block, or unfollow.
How to report a comment
- Long-press the comment.
- Tap Report (red text).
- A new screen opens: Report — Why are you reporting this comment?
- Pick the reason that fits best (see the full list below).
- Currently reviews the report and takes action if needed.
Report reasons
You can report a comment for any of these reasons:
- It's spam
- Nudity or sexual activity
- Hate speech or symbols
- Violence or dangerous organisations
- Sale of illegal or regulated goods
- Bullying or harassment
- Intellectual property violation
- Suicide, self-injury or eating disorders
- I just don't like it (used for personal preference)
- Drugs
Reports are anonymous, except if you're reporting an intellectual property infringement. If someone is in immediate danger, call the local emergency services — don't wait. Currently is here to keep the platform safe, but real-world emergencies need real-world help.
After you report
You'll see a confirmation screen:
Thanks for letting us know. Your feedback is important in helping us keep this Currently community safe.
Below the confirmation, two more options appear:
- Block @username — that person can no longer see your moments, message you, or interact with you in any way.
- Unfollow @username — they're removed from your feed, but they can still see your public moments.
Block vs unfollow
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Unfollow | They're removed from your feed. They can still see your public moments and message you. Mild action — for when you just don't want their content in your feed. |
| Block | Total disconnection. They can't see your moments, message you, comment on your posts, or react to anything you post. They won't be told they're blocked. Heavy action — for harassment or repeated unwanted contact. |
FAQs — Reporting & blocking
Q. Will the person know I reported them?
A. No. Reports are anonymous. The only exception is intellectual property reports, where we may need to share who reported in case of disputes.
Q. How long does Currently take to act on a report?
A. Most reports are reviewed within 24 hours. Serious reports (violence, self-harm, etc.) are prioritized and handled faster. We may not always tell you the outcome — but we always look at every report.
Q. If I block someone, will they know?
A. They won't get a notification or any direct message saying they're blocked. They might figure it out indirectly (e.g., they can't see your profile or moments anymore).
Q. Can I unblock someone later?
A. Yes. Go to Settings → Privacy & Safety → Blocked accounts, find their name, and tap Unblock.
Q. What if a comment makes me feel unsafe but doesn't fit any of the report reasons?
A. Pick the closest one (often Bullying or harassment or I just don't like it). For urgent situations, contact our support team via Help Center → Contact Support.
Q. Will the comment be removed immediately when I report it?
A. Not always. The comment stays visible while we review unless it clearly violates our rules. If you want it gone from your view immediately, Block the user.
Q. Can I report a moment instead of a comment?
A. Yes. The same flow exists for moments — tap the more-options menu on the moment and tap Report.
