YOU'RE HERE LIVE, search places, and using your current location.
Why tag a place?
Tagging a place puts your moment on the Live Map (so friends nearby see it), feeds into your Top Places profile section (Signature Spots), and lets friends find your moment when they visit the same spot. It's a key part of the Currently magic.
Open the place tagger
- On the composer, find the location chip below the caption.
- If a place isn't already set, the chip shows a placeholder.
- Tap the chip to open the Tag Place screen.
YOU'RE HERE LIVE — the smart suggestion
At the top of the Tag Place screen, Currently uses your live GPS to suggest where you are right now:

Tap Tag this place — that's it. The location is set.
Bonus: see who else is here. If other Currently users are at the same place right now, you'll see "{N} Friends here now" — a great way to know who's around. Tag in, then chat with them in the place's group.
Search for a place manually
If the smart suggestion isn't right (or you want to tag a different place), use the search:
- Tap the Search places field below the suggestion card.
- Type the place name (e.g.,
Mcdonald). - Currently shows matches with addresses and distance from you (e.g.,
Mcdonald's, Prahlad Nagar - 1.0m,Mcdonald's - 1km). - Tap the place to select.
Nearby places list
Without searching, the screen shows nearby places already, sorted by distance:
- Mcdonald's — Prahlad Nagar - 1.0m
- Mcdonald's — Prahlad Nagar - 1km
- Starbucks Coffee — Prahlad Nagar - 2km
- Box cricket — Prahlad Nagar - 5km

Tap any one to select.
Can't find your place?
If your location isn't in the list, tap Can't find? Select Current Location at the top. This uses your raw GPS coordinates as the location, even if it's not a known place.
Removing a tagged place
On the composer, the location chip has a small X on the right. Tap it to remove the location from your moment.
FAQs — Tagging place
Q. Why does my location show wrong?
A. GPS can be off by a few hundred metres, especially indoors. If the suggested place is wrong, just search for the right one and pick from the list.
Q. Can I tag a private location like my home?
A. Yes — search for it or use Select Current Location. Be aware that tagging your home reveals it to anyone who can see your moment. Currently doesn't share precise coordinates publicly, but the place name is shown.
Q. Why is the place I want not in the list?
A. Currently uses a places database (similar to Google Maps). Very new or very local places may not be there. Use Select Current Location to tag your raw GPS instead, or pick a nearby landmark.
Q. Can I tag multiple places on one moment?
A. Just one place per moment. If your hangout spans multiple places, mention the others in the caption.
Q. Will tagging a place affect privacy?
A. The location is visible to anyone who can see your moment. If you set the moment to Close Friends or Followers, only those people see the location.
Q. Can I post a moment without tagging a place?
A. Yes — a place isn't required. Just leave the location chip empty (or remove the suggestion). The moment will still post, just without a location pin.
