Use the system share sheet for any other app on your phone.
How to share externally
- Open the share sheet on a moment.
- In Row 2, tap Share.
- Your phone's system share sheet opens — a list of every app installed that can receive a share.
- Pick the app: WhatsApp, SMS, Telegram, Email, Twitter/X, Facebook, anything.
- Pick the contact or chat in that app.
- Send.
What gets sent
Most apps receive the share as a link to the moment, like:
Shared link format. Check out @khushi on Currently:
cntly.club/m/abc123xyz
The recipient taps the link and is taken to the moment — either inside the Currently app (if they have it installed) or on a web preview page (if they don't).
Apps where this works well
- WhatsApp — generates a rich preview card with the moment thumbnail
- Telegram — similar rich preview
- SMS / iMessage — link preview with thumbnail (depends on the recipient's phone)
- Email — link plus thumbnail
- Twitter/X — link unfurls into a moment card on the timeline
- Discord, Slack — link preview
Recipients don't need Currently. Anyone can open a shared moment link in their browser — they don't need the Currently app installed. They'll see a clean preview page with the moment, the poster's name, and a Get Currently button if they want the full experience.
FAQs — External sharing
Q. Why don't I see WhatsApp / Telegram in the share sheet?
A. The system share sheet only shows apps you have installed and that support sharing. If WhatsApp is installed but missing, restart your phone or the app — sometimes the system share index gets stale.
Q. If my friend doesn't have Currently, what do they see?
A. They open the link in a browser and see a preview page with the moment image, the poster's name, the activity verb, and a Get Currently button that takes them to the App Store / Play Store.
Q. Will the link expire?
A. As long as the original moment is still up on Currently (the poster hasn't deleted it), the link works. If the poster deletes the moment, the link will show "This moment is no longer available."
Q. Can I share a moment as a forwarded WhatsApp message?
A. Yes — tap Share → pick WhatsApp → pick a contact or group. The shared link goes through as a regular WhatsApp message that can then be forwarded like any other message.
Q. Why does the WhatsApp preview not show the photo?
A. WhatsApp generates the preview from the link's metadata, which sometimes takes a few seconds. Wait a moment after sending and it should appear. If it doesn't, the moment may have been deleted by its creator.
