Save to your private collection inside Currently or download to your phone.
Two kinds of save
Save can mean two different things, depending on what you pick:
| Option | What it does | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Save to Currently | Adds the moment to your private saved list inside Currently | Profile → Saved |
| Download to phone | Saves the photo or video to your phone's gallery | Photos / Gallery app |
Save to Currently
- Open the share sheet on a moment.
- In Row 2, tap Save.
- If both options exist, pick Save to Currently.
- A small toast confirms:
Saved. - To find your saved moments later, go to Profile → Saved.
Only you can see what you saved. Your Saved list is private. Even the original poster doesn't know that you saved their moment. It's purely for you — a private collection of moments you want to come back to.
Download to phone
- Open the share sheet on a moment.
- In Row 2, tap Save.
- If both options exist, pick Download.
- First time, your phone will ask for Photos / Gallery permission — tap Allow.
- The photo or video is saved to your phone's gallery.
Downloading someone else's moment. Even if you're allowed to download a moment, remember that the original poster owns the content. Don't repost it elsewhere as if it were yours, and don't use it commercially without permission. Currently can't enforce this — it's just good etiquette.
Unsaving
To remove a moment from your saved list:
- Go to Profile → Saved.
- Find the moment.
- Open the moment, tap the share icon, and tap Unsave.
- Or long-press the saved moment and tap Remove from Saved.
FAQs — Save and download
Q. Where do my saved moments live?
A. Your saved moments are stored in Profile → Saved. Only you can see this list.
Q. If the original poster deletes their moment, does my saved version disappear too?
A. If you only saved to Currently (without downloading), then yes — when the original is deleted, your saved version also goes away. If you downloaded the moment to your phone gallery, that copy is yours forever.
Q. Can I save my own moments?
A. Yes — you can save your own moments to your Saved list (useful as a 'highlight reel' for yourself), or download them to your gallery as a backup.
Q. Can I download videos?
A. Yes — same flow as photos. The video saves as an MP4 to your gallery.
Q. How many moments can I save?
A. There's no hard limit on Currently's saved list. Save as many as you like.
Q. Why is the Download option missing on some moments?
A. Close Friends moments and Private moments can't be downloaded — only the poster's followers can see them, and Currently restricts download to protect the poster's privacy.
