Setting up payment details and the face verification step.
Why we need this
Currently sends real money. To do that, we need:
- A way to receive money — UPI ID or bank account.
- Verification you are who you claim to be — face match against your profile photo.
Both are required before you can withdraw.
Adding a UPI ID
- On the Withdraw screen, find the Add UPI Number section.
- A toggle at the top: UPI / Withdraw to Bank. Pick UPI.
- Account holder name — your full legal name (must match your bank).
- UPI ID — your handle (e.g.,
example@upi,9999999999@paytm). - Tap Verify.
- Currently sends a small amount (₹1) to test the UPI ID.
- Once received, the UPI is verified and saved.
Adding a bank account
- On the Withdraw screen, toggle to Withdraw to Bank.
- Fill in:
- Account holder name — full legal name.
- Account number.
- Confirm account number — re-enter for safety.
- IFSC Code — your bank's IFSC.
- Tap Verify.
- Currently uses a verification service to check the account is real and the name matches.
- State changes to
Bank verification in progress— Instant money withdrawals after approval. Usually takes up to 24 hours.
Verification is a one-time step. Once your UPI or bank is verified, you can withdraw multiple times without re-verifying. The verification only re-runs if you change your account details.
Face Verification
After bank/UPI is added, Currently runs a Face Verification check before processing your first withdrawal. This protects against account theft.
How face verification works
- On the verification screen, you'll see your camera with a circular frame.
- Currently shows two instructions:
- Your face must be clearly visible and match your profile photo to verify your identity.
- Ensure good lighting and no face coverings like sunglasses, masks.
- Position your face in the frame.
- Tap the white capture button at the bottom.
- Currently compares the live face to your saved profile photo (on-device, securely).
- If matched, withdrawal proceeds. If not matched, you can retry.
Face data stays private. The face match runs on Currently's servers but face biometric data is never stored long-term. Once verification passes (or fails), the temporary face capture is deleted. Your profile photo stays as-is.
If face verification fails
Common reasons:
- Profile photo doesn't show your face clearly — update it from Profile → Edit Profile.
- Lighting is poor — try a brighter, well-lit area.
- Wearing sunglasses, mask, or hat — remove them.
- Profile photo isn't actually you — Currently expects the same person.
Retry up to 3 times per session. Beyond that, support reviews manually.
Bank verification couldn't be completed
If bank verification fails, you'll see a red error: Your bank details couldn't be verified. Common reasons:
- Account number doesn't match the IFSC code's bank.
- Account holder name doesn't match what's on the bank's records.
- Account is closed or inactive.
Re-enter the details carefully. If still failing, contact your bank to confirm the account is active.
FAQs — UPI / Bank / Face Verification
Q. Can I add multiple UPI IDs or bank accounts?
Right now, just one of each. To switch, replace the existing one — the old verification is invalidated and you'll re-verify.
Q. Why does my face verification keep failing?
Usually it's a profile photo mismatch — make sure your profile photo is a clear, recent photo of your face. Try updating both your profile photo and the verification capture in good lighting.
Q. Will Currently store my face permanently?
No. The verification capture is processed and deleted once verification passes or fails. Your profile photo (which you uploaded) stays as the reference.
Q. Can someone fake their face to verify?
Currently uses liveness detection — checks for blink, head movement, etc. — to ensure it's a live person, not a photo of someone. Static photos are detected and rejected.
Q. My UPI verification ₹1 didn't arrive. What now?
Wait 30 minutes — UPI is usually instant but can be delayed. If it still hasn't arrived, double-check the UPI ID format and try re-verifying. Some UPI providers (lesser-known ones) may not work.
Q. Can I use someone else's bank account?
No — the account holder name must match your name on Currently. Using someone else's account is account fraud and will get the withdrawal rejected and your account flagged.
